About Myself.... Veena Mehta
It’s hard. Isn’t it? To write about yourself. For me, the opening paragraph is the hardest thing to do. I need to spend more time to come up with an appropriate opening that will give my readers a first impression. Once I overcome that ‘writer’s blockage’ I am pretty much on the go. I think!
Veena Mehta is my maiden name. It originates from India. “Veena” is a classical instrument. It is similar to a sitar with a slight difference in looks and a big difference in sound. The sound that comes out is very deep due to having two domes at each end. No, I do not play any instruments. I DO have a great love and appreciation for music, however. I consider music an important part of my life. Like a breath of fresh air, a sip of cold water on a hot, sunny day.
I have been a NJ resident for almost 29 years. I consider the past 20 years as my learning curve, growing up, recognizing my potential, and still growing. It took me to so many places. I have experienced (and still am) many, many ups and downs, met quite a lot of wonderful people, made a few amazing friends. Most of all I have been blessed with a wonderful son who is a doctor and wants to practice neurosurgery. A traditional medicine man.
Even though my son and I are at the opposite side of the spectrum, we both have a common goal, a common denominator. How to contain and manage pain. I am more unconventional, medically speaking. Not that I do not have a faith in the process, knowledge, evolution, capacity of extending life. Believe me, I had my fair share of growing pains, surgeries. That’s how and why I veered towards more natural process than leaning towards (if I can help it) synthetic ones over the past few years. I have started treating my body with vitamins, Ayurvedic, homeopathic, healing massages, yoga, feng shui, and then came Reiki.
Reiki - When I lost my youngest brother, I was devastated. I did not know what to do or how to handle this terrible loss. Thankfully, my yoga instructor - who had just became a certified Reiki Practitioner - came to my rescue. I did not know anything about Reiki, how it works, what is involved except that it was based on energy fields and chakras. But, I had faith in it and in my instructor. She helped me through that very difficult time and quite a few afterwards.
Here I am. A Reiki practitioner myself. My utmost goal is to ease any pain, suffering and/or infuse just the overall well being. It is the greatest satisfaction in the world to see a face light up at the end of a session. To see that at least for a while and a bit longer, I took you on a journey, a place, where you were calm, stress free where no pain existed.
I invite you all to take that journey, experience a difference in your body.
